Harald Hanek thought Wikipedia's interface was too complex and confusing, so he created Gollum, the Wikipedia Browser. Gollum is an open-source, AJAXy web app that strips away all the cruft and minimizes Wikipedia to the bare essentials: a toolbar, a search bar, and the article. Gollum also makes some tweaks to article presentation, such as bigger headings and moving the category list to the top of the page. There's also a bookmark facility for keeping track of important pages, a "Recommend this Article" button to send e-mail links to articles, and a big Print button. Though I find its interface pleasantly polished and uncluttered, Gollum Browser's Achilles heel may be its lack of tabs, which I find essential when browsing Wikipedia.
